Fantastic Start!

Today we kicked off our SWEAT360 Spring Meltdown Challenge. And what a start is was!

The SWEAT360 Spring Meltdown Challenge is a boot camp series designed to take de-conditioned participants through a 6 week journey of physical and mental progress. Through physical activity, nutrition, journal-ling and weekly tasks participants literally have the power to change their lives. As well as ours! We have the privilege of witnessing their journeys. Just in the introductions alone we saw strength, commitment, vulnerability and power! Thanks to all our new family members that joined today! Onwards and upwards!!

  1. On Sunday we hiked an intense 15 miles up Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls. It took 6 hours and many blisters! Poor Walker's pads got pretty beat us too :( Looking forward to TRX class today and hoping I can survive!

  2. I, too, felt that Saturday's start was AWESOME and derived tremendous motivation for the next six weeks!

Following Saturday's session, Terrance and I headed on over to CostCo where we loaded up on vegetables, meats, and other healthy options to fuel our bodies over the next few weeks. Candidly, when you are shopping with specific criteria, you can pass on by a large part of the store! No thank, Processed Foods Zone.

As Terrance just posted, we completed a gruelling, albeit august and splendid, hike up the Eagle Creek Trail yesterday, which challenged us physically, mentally, and emotionally! That said, the sense of accomplishment is amazing -- if you can hike that trail, then you can hike any!

For me, the excitement in this challenge is to push myself beyond and out of my comfort zone. I want to develop my strength in physical endurance, mental focus, and drive to go beyond what I think is possible! And, yes, I have weight to lose, too, particularly my lingering Buddha belly, so I want to shed that puppy to show my abs growing below!

Today, TRX class: awesome! Looking forward to "being on the straps," as it were, and hearing Kili challenge us to keep on at it!

  3. Way to go you two! Really leading the way and taking this full on! We love hearing about your journey. And you both rocked the TRX yesterday. I saw complete improvements in form and execution! See you Wednesday night for sure!

  4. Today we were able to do 2 workouts. The first was 40 mins on the eliptical machine at noon and then the amazing workout with the meltdown group. I was really impressed with everyone in the class but major kuddos to Kim who jumped, I am so proud that she was able to overcome that fear!!! Keep it up everyone!

  5. Loved working out with my Meltdown buddies tonight! You all motivate me(and push me to JUMP when I didn't want to!!) I'm so glad I'm doing this challenge! Also had fun (surprisingly, ha ha) in Kickboxing class Tuesday! Going to find some fun things to do to keep me active in the upcoming sunshine! Have a great week everyone!!

  6. WOW!!! what an awesome workout tonight! I feel great. Thanks for all the motivation and encouragement. I am really looking forward to Saturday. I'm trying to think of what to do, cardio wise, between now and then. Probably do the eliptical machine. Keep up the good work everyone!

  8. Funny how when you think you are getting on track, life tries everything in its power to derail you. Between husband coming to bed late, the baby needing a 2am feeding, our 3yr old wanting to sleep with us at 4am and my alarm going off at 5:30, I was off to a great start! Along with the lack of energy to start off the morning, Yahoo! was providing all employees green gelato today in observance of Earth Day. That said, I packed my lunch and avoided the cafeteria during gelato time, made sure I hit the gym during the lunch hour for some much needed cardio and went on a 3 mile walk with my neighbor with my 12lb baby strapped to my front, pushing a stroller and walking the dog.....Sorry life, but you are no longer in charge!

  9. We have completed Week 1, and I have made the following observations:

    1. The work-outs are definitely helping, and I feel strongly committed to doing my utmost when engaged in those hours of Sweat.

    2. The nutrition is going to be my biggest challenge. I realize, I really enjoy food! I love eating! I derive pleasure from the act of eating, drinking, and consuming in general. Thus, I have much work to do to control my intake. I am responsible for what I eat.

    3. My body is changing, growing, and improving, and that takes energy. I am at once tearing apart and rebuilding the equipment known as my body. This process requires me to be aware of it and to realize its impact on those around me.

    4. I have never liked sports, doing them, competing in them, or having anything maringinally related to them. I have had major epiphanies working out, memories of childhood fresh and alive. I have realized that I actually have some healing to do in this area of my life.

    5. I am super excited to be doing this program: it gives tremendous focus and consequential validation of how important my health is. So many years of my life, I have done major disservices to my health. Now is not such a time.

There is much to do, and I am excited to be part of this life-changing group. Cheers, Everyone, and happy Monday.

    Looking forward to Kick-Boxing tomorrow!
